首先Jeremy不是Loser，他接的翻译越来越多，现在自己还开了个工作室，日子越过越好
所以他不需要碰瓷，当然我承认他确实对于之后没翻译MGS有极大怨念，每次接受采访总是要提这件事
本质上他还是把小岛当哥们的，只是他认为这件事之后小岛跟他不欢而散太可惜了，最终由爱生恨
当然这个恨也确实有点过头，几天前有人发给我这篇报道，我的第一反应也是“他都唠叨十年了，还不知足啊？”
现在仔细看了一下才发现有点新料，否则我压根懒得翻译，以前早就公开过的事情占了70%吧，我翻译的仅仅是那没公开的30%
而就我个人感觉，他这篇报道，也完全是给熟悉MGS1的人，而不是路人看的，那种没有上下文的对话，一般人根本就不知道是什么，更无从判断两个翻译的优劣

真的把小岛喷的屎都不如的人是存在的，不是他，是MGS2的翻译Kaku
Kaku的抱怨有这么几点
首先MGS1时期Jeremy的参考资料有日版的全程过场动画（VHS录像带格式），还有一箱子的设定集，里面包括新川洋司的画，还有角色的文字背景
到了MGS2时期，Kaku除了文本什么都没拿到
而且被Jeremy刺激了一回之后，日方要求明显严格了，翻译必须1：1，即使日语的确有术语缩写错误，也不准改，要上报批准
（其实这个才是日方作为甲方的标准程序，干过的都懂，不如说Jeremy当年能那么自由才是偶然现象）
所以Kaku最后成了真的怨妇，不干游戏翻译这行了，还喷了一堆“小岛根本不算作家，他代表了游戏界剧本有多垃圾，就是同人小说水平，让他去写电视剧，用不了一天他就完蛋”
（Jeremy说的话我大部分是赞同的，但是Kaku这句暴言我当然不赞同，尤其搞笑的是，这女人大概还不知道，那时候剧本还不是小岛自己写的，小岛只写个初版对话，实际润色是那个捉刀客福岛智和233）

Jeremy作为一个美国人，认为自己比小岛更懂英语，这一点是没问题的
而且MGS玩家群里也是公认1代文本翻译最好
如果不谈MGS的续作，单纯是跟同时期的美版日本游戏比，毫不夸张的说，MGS1是无与伦比的好
别的日本公司要再花五到十年才能赶上这个水平，有一些公司至今都赶不上

所谓孪蛇的新版翻译，也保留了大部分对话，仅仅是改了和日语不同的部分，结果很多地方还越改越糟
这本身就是对于他实力的证明

当然MGS1的英文配音我通了十几次，日语配音（日版初版，完全版是英语配音日语字幕，不能算）只有大概四五次
所以在这方面你们大可说我不是客观的，次数在这里摆着呢（虽然日语玩的少的真正原因是英文早就被我玩烂掉了）
不过说实话MGS1的日语和英语在我心中地位是相当的（谈整体，而不是某个演员，整体上可以说不分上下，单独拉出来优劣明显）
一堆续作我倒是基本认为日语更好，差不多续作我只有MGS5能接受英语了，其他都不行

至于他最后拿MGS5那句话举例子，什么叫不够精炼不够生动，其实也不是一个单纯的长短问题，指的主要是主谓宾和代称是否自然，我觉得用MGS2的翻译过程比较能说明问题，再贴一次吧
以下源自MGS2的翻译润色Kaku，第一行是日文原文，第二行是润色前，第三行是润色后
熟悉美版的人都能发现，润色后基本是成品的文本，而润色前很生涩
