Pre-TGS: Treasure Talks Ikaruga, Wii Title, and More
Japanese developer confirms new Wii game and lots more.

In what's becoming a tradition for 1UP, we caught up with one of our favorite developers, Treasure, before this week's Tokyo Game Show. Treasure president Masato Maegawa, excitable as always, had plenty to say about his company's upcoming titles. Here are some of the highlights of our conversation:

Ikaruga for Xbox Live Arcade
Good news on this front. Maegawa mentioned that the development team working on it is actually adding worldwide rankings, online co-op play, and the ability to share movies of your best play sessions.

Secret Wii Title
Remember the Wii title he said they wanted to work on last year? Well, Maegawa confirmed that it's indeed in the works now and that it's from the "action" team at Treasure (there are three main lines at Treasure: fighting, shooting, and action). Previous titles from the "action" team have included Gunstar Heroes and Guardian Heroes, so there should be plenty reason for Wii fans to get excited about this one.

Bangai-O DS
Maegawa mentioned that the game will be playable at this week's Tokyo Game Show, so look forward to our impressions of it then. But he did tease us by saying that the game is pretty much all new -- it's not just a remake of the Dreamcast/N64 game -- and, as you may have already heard, takes advantage of the stylus.


Xbox 360 Shooter
And now for some bad news. According to Maegawa, this one's taking a lot longer than they had anticipated since Xbox 360 development requires a lot of resources. The other reason? Some of the team working on it are actually handling the port of Ikaruga for Xbox Live Arcade. The sense we got is that it may be a while until we see the game. Kind of a bummer, since this is regarded as the third game in the Radiant Silvergun/Ikaruga series (though Maegawa has said all along that it's different enough so as to not technically be a sequel or spiritual successor).

Another Xbox Live Arcade game?
Last time we spoke Maegawa had mentioned there was a possibility that the untitled Xbox 360 shooter could be made available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace. But when we spoke today, he mentioned that Treasure wants to develop an original title for Marketplace -- whether this is the shooter or a different game entirely wasn't clear.

Offering Titles for PSN?
Right now it's not in the cards. According to Maegawa, Treasure just got fully up and running on developing for Xbox Live Arcade, so to move resources to PSN just now wouldn't make much sense. http://media.1up.com/media?id=3397065


Radiant Silvergun on Xbox Live Arcade?
With Ikaraga coming to Xbox Live Arcade we had to ask about the possibility of its superior Saturn predecessor coming to the 360. According to Maegawa, it's something they've definitely been thinking about doing, perhaps after Ikaruga is finished. However, he mentioned that it would be a much bigger undertaking, as Treasure would like to actually redo elements of the game -- basically, enhance it with high resolution visuals to make it more current.
