NPD April Preview

NPDwill report USA sales for the four weeks ending May 3, 2008 on May 15,2008 at 6:30 pm EST. The period will cover the first few days of theGrand Theft Auto IV launch on Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as the MarioKart Wii launch. NPD reported five weeks of data in its March report,but with the big game releases driving demand it is unlikely that theindustry had smaller sales despite the shorter time frame.
If weekly average sales held constant from March to April, NPD would report the following:
Wii576,000DS558,400PSP237,600Xbox 360209,600PS3205,600PS2172,800Salesabove or below those totals would indicate an uptake in sales rates, ordwindling sales rates compared to the previous month.
However,because of the big releases in April, and the fact that Sony andNintendo are in new fiscal years (since April 1), the weekly salesrates will of course change.
Vgchartz expects NPD to report the following:

Wiioutsold PS3 and Xbox 360 because of a huge shipment at the end of themonth timed to coincide with the GTAIV and Mario Kart launches.

DS declined a bit in weekly sales from the previous month despite the launch of a new Pokemon game.

PS3 outsold Xbox 360 and PSP by about 50,000 units for this period.

PS2 sales continue to decline.

GrandTheft Auto IV was easily the top seller for the month. It sold about3.7 million units despite being on sale for less than a week in thisperiod.
Vgchartz data which covers the Americas, rather than just the USA, shows the following hardware data for the four week period:

Inweeks of low Wii supply, DS was the top seller. Throughout the entiremonth, PS2 sold the least units (underlined) by week. An interestingdevelopment for this month is the PS3. PS3 outsold Xbox 360 each weekof this month – by increasingly large totals. What started as astatistical tie between Xbox 360 and PS3 on week one (<1000 units)ended up at over a 33,000 unit lead for PS3 on May 3.
Adjustingfor the size of March (five weeks) vs. April (four weeks), the averageweekly sales rates for April changed as follows from March:

Hardwaresales for April were largely driven by the two versions of Grand TheftAuto IV, Mario Kart Wii, Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon 2 for DS, and GranTurismo 5: Prologue for PS3 as can be seen in the top ten softwaresales below. A number of carry over titles from last month, includingSuper Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii), Army of Two (Xbox 360), and TomClancy’s Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 (Xbox 360) continued to drive hardware aswell. Two holdovers from 2007 also remained in the top ten Call of Duty4 (Xbox 360), and Wii Play (Wii).

感觉差距好大.

这个也叫准确咩, PS3的销量高了一倍, 360的销量高了12万, GTAIV的销量更是高的不知道去哪了, 不过VG的数据一向很娱乐, 我挺喜欢
