The game was recompiled to run natively on the Switch. However, like Galaxy in SM3DAS, the GPU is at least partially emulated. (Hagi, SM3DAS’s emulator, isn’t used. Appears to be something new.)
While I haven’t been able to take a look at Skyward Sword HD’s code in depth, it does appear that at least the TEV (Texture Environment Unit) is emulated via shaders.
